This project is for the grade separation of Harbor Boulevard
in Belmont from the existing railroad tracks by creating a railroad bridge
structure that accommodates traffic underneath. The project is being
implemented in 2 phases as follows:
PHASE A involves the installation of a temporary track
known as a "shoofly", and the cut-over of the trains from the existing
tracks to the shoofly.
PHASE B includes lowering of Harbor Boulevard,
constructing elevated track and structures, building railroad aerial platforms,
upgrading the Belmont station, switching over railroad operation to the new
bridge and demolition of the shoofly.
Harbor Boulevard will be closed to traffic at certain
stages of the construction, in which alternate routes will be in place.
This project is complete.
The SMCTA expended-to-date amount is underrunning the
current SMCTA budget amount. This underrun is part of the funding
agreement which allows for the Ralston (Job No. 677), Harbor (Job No. 683) and
Holly (Job No. 681) projects to continue payments up to a combined total of
$60,166,000.
Future activities include the project close out.
