February 2, 2007

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority is soliciting applicants for its Citizens Advisory Committee.

The CAC acts as a liaison between the public and the board of directors, providing valuable input to the board on county transportation issues. The committee is comprised of 15 volunteer members, and this recruitment seeks to fill three positions.

The CAC meets on the Tuesday preceding the first Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in San Carlos. Members of the CAC must be residents of San Mateo County. Applicants will be interviewed and the board must approve the appointment of members.

Interested persons can download an application in PDF or Microsoft Word formats, contact the Assistant Board Secretary at 650-508-6223 or email at cacsecretary@smcta.com for additional information.

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority is an independent agency formed to administer the proceeds of a 20-year countywide half-cent sales tax. Measure A, which established the program, was approved by voters in June 1988. County voters in 2004 reauthorized the sales tax and its publicly developed expenditure plan for an additional 25 years. The TA will continue to fund vital transportation improvements through 2033.
