Transportation Authority Seeks to Fill Volunteer Advisor Position

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority is soliciting applicants for several vacancies on its Citizens Advisory Committee. The 15-member, volunteer CAC acts as a liaison between the public and the board of directors, providing valuable input to the board on countywide transportation issues.

The CAC meets on the Tuesday preceding the first Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in San Carlos. Members of the CAC must be residents of San Mateo County. Interested persons can download an application from the TA Web site www.smcta.com, or call 650-508-6223.

Deadline for submitting applications is Monday, April 7, at 5 p.m. The TA is an independent agency formed to administer the proceeds of a 20-year countywide half-cent sales tax. Measure A, which established the program, was approved by voters in June 1988. In 2004, county voters reauthorized the sales tax and its publicly developed expenditure plan for an additional 25 years. The TA will continue to fund vital transportation improvements through 2033.
