The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) is putting the call out to local governments for its latest competitive grant program aimed at improving traffic flow and safety on the county’s most critical commute corridors.
The 2023 Highway Program Call for Projects can distribute up to $100 million in sales-tax generated funds. The money comes from voter-approved Measures A and W.
“This is a significant amount of funding that’s available to help reduce traffic congestion in the area,” said Patrick Gilster, the TA’s director of planning and fund management. “We're excited to see what projects get submitted to further our local goals for improving mobility and safety for all roadway users here in San Mateo County.”
Gilster said there are a few key dates that applicants should keep in mind:
- A workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 11, to help applicants better understand the Call for Projects process.
An early submittal review will take place on August 4.
Project applications are due by August 25.
A Program of Projects will be created this fall with a draft presentation to the TA Board of Directors scheduled for November 2. Final approval by the board is scheduled for December 7.
