Transportation Authority Seeks Community Volunteers

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority is soliciting applicants for its Citizens Advisory Committee. The 15-member, volunteer CAC acts as a liaison between the public and the board of directors, providing valuable input to the board on the projects and programs in the Transportation Expenditure Plan.

The committee meets on the Tuesday before the first Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in San Carlos.  Members of the CAC must be residents of San Mateo County. Interested persons can download an application from the TA website or call 650-508-6279 for more information.

Deadline for submitting applications is Monday, April 23, 2012.

The TA is an independent agency formed to administer the proceeds of a countywide half-cent sales tax for countywide transportation projects and programs.  The sales tax, originally approved by the voters in 1988, was reauthorized by 75 percent of the San Mateo County electorate in 2004.
