San Mateo County residents passionate about improving mobility and ensuring responsible use of transportation dollars are encouraged to apply for open seats on the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) Community Advisory Committee (CAC).
The CAC plays a vital role in advising the TA Board of Directors on transportation projects funded by local sales tax revenues. These projects enhance bike and pedestrian access, improve roads and highways, and support transit solutions across the county. No technical background is required — just a commitment to community and a desire to make local transportation better for everyone.
“Serving on the Community Advisory Committee is a powerful way for residents to have a direct impact on the future of transportation in San Mateo County,” said TA CAC Chair Barbara Arietta. “Whether you care about safer streets, better transit, or more walkable neighborhoods, your voice matters.”
The CAC meets once a month and offers community members a front-row seat to the decision-making process that determines how taxpayer dollars are spent. Members review proposed projects, provide input to staff and the Board, and help ensure equity and efficiency remain central to the TA’s work.
All San Mateo County residents are eligible to apply. Applications are open now and can be submitted online at www.smcta.com/cac.
This is a volunteer position. Applicants do not need prior experience in transportation or government — only an interest in serving the public and shaping a better-connected county.
Your seat at the table is waiting. Apply today and be part of the solution.
