The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) has released its first Alternative Congestion Relief/Transportation Demand Management (ACR/TDM) Program Call for Projects (CFP).  The goal of this CFP is to promote the use of sustainable transportation options and enhance mobility across San Mateo County, with a focus on encouraging cities to apply for citywide TDM plans.

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) Board of Directors approved funding for the Pedestrian and Bicycle Program at its December meeting. The program will fund projects that improve bicycling, walking accessibility and safety in San Mateo County. The competitive awards total nearly $22 million in combined funding from voter approved Measures A and W for 25 projects. The 2022 Pedestrian and Bicycle Program Cycle 6 Call for Projects (CFP) was the largest in San Mateo County history. The TA Strategic Plan 2020-2024 created a combined Measure A and W Pedestrian and Bicycle Program in accordance with the Measure A Goals and Measure W Core Principles. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Program includes three main categories: Large Capital Projects, Small Capital Projects, and Planning/Promotions Projects.

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) officially launched TA E-News today, the authority’s first electronic newsletter. The e-newsletter will keep the county “Moving Forward” and informed on the latest news and updates from the multi-modal transit options provided by the TA. This quarterly e-newsletter features new Executive Director April Chan as the headliner, stories about the U.S. 101 Express Lanes update, and the new funding category known as the Alternative Congestion Relief and Transportation Demand Management (ACR/TDM).

The TA developed the ACR/TDM Plan to help guide Measures A and W investment decisions from these funding categories. “The honor of receiving this award is a testament to the hard work the TA accomplishes on a daily basis for the region,” said TA Board Chair Rico E. Medina. “We will continue to push new and exciting ideas to the forefront of our efforts.”
