The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) is pleased to welcome former U.S. Congresswoman and current San Mateo County Supervisor Jackie Speier to its Board of Directors. Speier, a longtime advocate for public transportation and infrastructure investment, took her oath of office at last night's board meeting.
Speier in now one of two county supervisors serving on the TA Board. She joins Supervisor Noelia Corzo who was sworn in for her second term at the same meeting.
Speier brings extensive experience in public service, including nearly 15 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she championed projects that improved transportation infrastructure and promoted sustainability in transit systems.
"The TA plays a vital role in funding and delivering projects that keep San Mateo County moving," said Speier. "I am eager to contribute to the Board’s mission and help ensure that our transportation infrastructure meets the growing needs of our communities."
Corzo, who began serving on the TA Board in 2023, has been a strong supporter of equitable investments in transportation projects and programs that benefit all San Mateo County residents. Corzo is the current vice president of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.
"Investing in transportation solutions is essential for improving mobility," said Corzo. "I look forward to continuing my support for projects that enhance transportation options, improve infrastructure, and make travel more efficient and sustainable countywide."
The San Mateo County Transportation Authority Board of Directors oversees the administration of Measure A and Measure W funds, which support transportation and infrastructure projects throughout the county.
