It’s with great sadness that the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) shares the passing of the agency’s former Board of Directors Chair Don Horsley. He passed on Friday, Nov. 24, at the age of 80.  

As transit operators around the Bay Area celebrate September as transit month, the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) wanted to share in the festivities with a few highlights of how both the voter-approved Measure A and Measure W sales tax revenues support local transit.  

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) manages sales tax revenue generated by both the voter-approved Measure A and Measure W.   Each year, the TA estimates how much money will be generated through those taxes and then makes that money available to TA funding programs like Highways, Bicycle and Pedestrian, and Shuttles. 

San Mateo County transportation experts are working to create a strategic plan that can address a wide range of AV possibilities destined for our local roads, paths and walkways. 

An exciting demonstration is taking place along El Camino Real (ECR) in the city of South San Francisco to test safety along a short portion of Highway 82 as well as efficiency for pedestrians, bikes and transit.
